Changing Scan Defaults
FORM NUMBER (DEFAULT IS 0001 OR H FOR HELP)?
Changing this number will change the numbering of the scanned forms. Each scanned
form is given a unique number by the scanner and this number is recorded in zzzdata.
The number is a reference number used by both.
Reasons for changing:
- If you have more than 200 forms to scan and you place the End of Forms at the
end of the first pile of 200 forms, you will need to change the numbering on the
second pile of forms placed in the input hopper.
DATE (DEFAULT IS MM/DD/YY OR H FOR HELP)?
Shows the current date.
Reason for changing:
- The date is incorrect or you wish to enter a different date.
BATCH NUMBER (DEFAULT IS 1 OR H FOR HELP)?
Changing this number will change the batch number
printed on the bottom of each scanned form
Reason for changing:
- If you wish to scan the forms a second time, changing this number will indicate
a second scan.
- If you have two sets of forms and do not want to run the sets in sequence.
RUN NUMBER (DEFAULT IS 1 OR H FOR HELP)?
This changes the position of the date, batch number, form number (etc) printed at
the bottom of the scanned form.
Reason for changing:
- If you need to scan each form twice, this will allow you to print the results in
a different location.
- If you do not, the results will be printed over, making them difficult to read.
NUMBER OF KEYS (DEFAULT IS 1 KEY NO SPECIAL CODE
OR H FOR HELP)?
Changes the number of keys to check the scan forms against.
Reason for changing:
- If have multiple answer keys but want the tests checked together.
Example: An instructor gives a large class a test. In order to insure
students stay honest, the instructor creates four versions of the same test. The
answer keys to this test will each have a different number in the P column of the
special codes section of the scan form. When students fill out their information
on the scan form (name, SSN#, etc) they will also include the number in the P
column in the special codes section of the scan form to indicate which test
version they used.
