Changing Output Preferences

To change these defaults type either N or NO. These are case sensitive.

Enter the data file name (default is zzzdata)?

Description:

"zzzdata" is the default name of the file containing the raw data from the scanner.

Reason for Changing:

If you changed the name of the file when you transferred it to your Frontier account (in the ftp section changing "ftp:> put zzzdata") you will need to change the default here to the name you gave the file. For example, in ftp if you changed the put command to "ftp:> put myfile", you would need to type in "myfile" in this section.

Do you want heading and footings (default is yes)?

Description:

The printed document will have headings and footings. This is information at the top and bottom of each printed page containing information about you document. Example of the heading:

OUTPUT DATA FROM THE OPTICAL MARK READER….

and

DATA KEY:

- ITEM LEFT BLANK
* MULTIPLE RESPONSE

There is no footing.

Reason for Changing:

If you do not want to print the heading on each page (note for each part of the output file the headings are different). We recommend not changing this default.

Do you want a sorted list (default is yes)?

Description:

This is an individualized list of all scanned forms and their results sorted by form number (i.e. the first form scanned appears first on this list).

Example of this list:

GPG001 0001 1P #000 ANSWER KEY ---------- -- -- -- - ------6 – 031 031 000 100%
112211122352421431152313334341423442314331-3----------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<followed by the first student or survey scan>

A description of each part of the line above can be found on the Output Description page.

Reason for Changing:

If you do not want an individualized listing of all forms scanned change this default.

Do you want a post list (default is yes)?

Description:

The post list has the same information as the sorted list. It is sorted by Identification Number (for test grading this would be the section containing the students’ SSN#) rather than by form number.

Example of this list:

---------- ------ 098% 431.243111 23243143.. 34241.314.2 1.21432134 ….1234
-520999999—056% 521.242134 133452211 2234213431 3213243133 123422
<followed by the rest of the forms>

A description of each part of the line above can be found on the Output Description page.

Reason for Changing:

If you do not need or want this list.

Do you want an item analysis list (default is yes)?

Description:

The analysis list has three parts: the Summary of Statistics, the Test Frequency Distribution, and the Quintile Graph. These all contain statistical information about the forms scanned.

Reason for Changing:

If you do not need any statistical information these lists are not important.

A description of each part of the analysis list can be found on the Output Description page.
